What does GSM mean in clothing?
GSM stands for grams per square metre. A 220gsm fabric weighs 220 grams per square metre; a 280gsm fabric weighs 280 grams per square metre.

What does a 280gsm hoodie feel like?
A 280gsm hoodie sits in a useful everyday range: more substantial than a lightweight sweatshirt, but not as dense or bulky as the very heavy 350–500gsm hoodies used by some streetwear labels.

A 280gsm hoodie is not simply a “better” version of a 220gsm T-shirt. They are different garment types built for different jobs.
- 220gsm T-shirt: substantial jersey fabric with enough weight to hold a graphic cleanly while remaining wearable as a tee.

If you prefer a softer, lighter drape for warm weather, a lower GSM may suit you better. If you want an extremely dense, boxy streetwear blank, you may prefer 240gsm or above.
