Print durability is not controlled by one magic variable. A graphic lasts because the artwork was prepared correctly, the print process was run correctly, the garment suits that process and the customer does not repeatedly expose it to unnecessary heat or abrasion.
The print method matters, but it is not the whole answer
Screen print, DTF and DTG behave differently because the ink or transfer sits on and interacts with fabric in different ways. None of those labels guarantees quality by itself. A well-produced print from any of the three can outlast a badly executed example of another.
Curing and application are critical
Inks and transfers rely on controlled heat, time and pressure. Under-curing, incorrect press settings or poor pretreatment can create prints that look acceptable on day one and fail early in washing. These are production variables a customer normally cannot see before purchase.
The garment underneath matters
Fabric composition, knit, stretch and surface texture affect how a print applies and moves in wear. A heavier GSM can make a tee feel more structured, but heavier does not automatically mean a print will last longer. The print process has to suit the fabric.
Flex and abrasion matter too
Large solid transfers on highly stretched areas work harder than small flexible prints. Repeated rubbing from bags, work surfaces or rough laundering can age the surface even when the print was produced correctly.
What you can control after purchase
Follow the garment-care label, wash inside out, use a low suitable temperature, avoid ironing directly on the print and reduce repeated high-heat drying where practical.
No print is immortal
Anything worn and washed often will change with time. The realistic target is controlled ageing rather than pretending a print can remain factory-new indefinitely. Good production and sensible care simply push that point much further away.
